Island Films and Sydney Film School partner to link education with industry.
Island Films and the Sydney Film School have entered into a partnership that will see Sydney Film School students utilise Island Films digital editing suites to further sharpen their digital filmmaking skills.
The partnership will allow more than 40 Sydney Film School students each year to develop their high-end Avid skills in addition to their Final Cut Pro editing skills at the Island Films suites in Balmain.
Island Films has over 25 years experience in the Australian film and television industry. Its credits for 2005 include The Oyster Farmer, Gillian Armstrongs Finding Florence and Al Clarks Book of Revelations, Island Films is perfectly positioned to provide Sydney Film School students a vehicle to hone their craft in a professional industry environment.
Simon Dibbs, General Manager of Island Films, said This partnership with Sydney Film School has great potential for Island Films in accessing new talent and building relationships with future editors.
The Sydney Film School was launched in August 2004. It is a premier creative institute for emerging filmmakers, with an emphasis on team building, production and individual creativity.
Ben Ferris, Executive Director of the Sydney Film School said, This partnership with Island Films presents a very exciting opportunity for my students to work alongside industry professionals, in a professional environment and reflects the Schools drive to become increasingly relevant to the industry.
