Sharkys Friends on Nine

Sydney based Production Company, Ambience Entertainment are thrilled to announce their new childrens game show Sharkys Friends, will be seen on Nine from August 20 2007.

Sharkys Friends stars Sharky, a quick witted, sharp-tongued and occasionally cheeky shark who challenges up to three kids per episode in a trivia quiz to win points in the form of fish cakes.

Aimed at 8-14 year olds and shot live in Brisbanes Channel Nine studios in front of an interactive audience of schoolchildren, the bond between Sharky and his best friend and co-host, Miranda Deakin, shines through as she asks quirky questions in a hangman style format, with the first one to reach three fish cakes winning the game.

Every player wins a prize, with Miranda Deakin and Sharky educating whilst entertaining with fairly straightforward general knowledge, mathematical, spelling and popular culture questions.

The show has a broad appeal to both boys and girls as Sharky, the character, was deliberately developed to have the similar interests, language and attitude as our target audience said Ambience Entertainments Executive Producer and Sharkys Friends co-creator, Michael Boughen.

In each episode there is a special round of Smelly Telly, a Sharkys Friends favourite, where Sharky and a lucky or not-so lucky contestant have to sniff an item while blindfolded. Whoever can identify it wins a fish cake.

The delightful delicacies in Smelly Telly include dog food, pigs trotters, cookie dough, chickens feet, fairy floss, rubber bands and pea and ham soup.

I am extremely pleased with the fresh and colourful look and feel of the program, and I know that Sharky will easily slot into the highly regarded and well loved list of childrens television characters and icons that have been created over time concluded Boughen.

Sharkys Friends screens on Channel Nine on Sunday Mornings.
